Derek was a really great hockey player. Along with lot of other things it was he who fed Orr for that iconic Stanley Cup winning goal in May of '70.
He anchored the penalty killing line, pioneered the sweep check and helped serve as enforcer for those late 60s & early 70s Bruin squads.
If he's reducing himself to caricature now with stories of blow between periods (which had to have been after '72) then that saddens me. Sounds like he maybe forgot who he used to be.

Derek's story is definitey one of Rags to Riches back to Rags and then back to Riches again. He spiraled out of control for many years but has since become at one time a successful commentator, business man and motivational speaker.
